He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences at Mandsaur University, Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh), India, where he contributes to teaching, research, and academic development in the field of crop improvement.
Dr. Gupta was born in Village Katariya Badagaon, Post Rampur Jaisingh, District Ambedkar Nagar (Uttar Pradesh), India. From an early stage, he developed a keen interest in agriculture and scientific research, which led him to pursue higher education in Agricultural Sciences. He completed his B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture, M.Sc. (Ag.), and Ph.D. (Ag.) in Genetics & Plant Breeding from Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology (ANDUAT), Ayodhya, securing excellent academic performance throughout his studies.
Dr. Gupta has also gained professional research experience as a Young Professional–II (YP-II) at the ICAR–Indian Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR), Kanpur, where he worked on a project aimed at enhancing pigeonpea productivity in India. His responsibilities included germplasm evaluation, hybridization, field phenotyping, statistical analysis (ANOVA, PCA, correlation, and cluster analysis), and research documentation.
His core expertise includes plant breeding (self and cross-pollinated crops), heterosis and combining ability analysis, genetic diversity studies, molecular breeding basics (DNA isolation and marker techniques), and seed production and quality assessment. He is proficient in statistical and analytical tools such as R, SPSS, OPSTAT, and Advanced MS Excel.
Dr. Ajeet Kumar Gupta’s career objective is to contribute to Research & Development in plant breeding, crop improvement, and molecular genetics, focusing on the development of climate-resilient and high-yielding crop varieties through both conventional and modern breeding approaches.
