Dr. Eric Kwasi Elliason is a public health leader, health systems specialist, and behavioral health practitioner with over a decade of experience designing, managing, and scaling healthcare programmes across diverse settings in Ghana and India. His career reflects a strong commitment to strengthening health systems, improving service delivery, and advancing community-based approaches to health promotion, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

He has demonstrated capacity in leading complex healthcare operations at scale, including oversight of multi-facility health systems comprising hospitals and primary care clinics. In his role as Director of Health for the Catholic Diocese of Sekondi–Takoradi in Ghana, he provided strategic and operational leadership for eight healthcare facilities—four hospitals and four clinics—serving a wide and diverse population. In this capacity, he managed a workforce of approximately 1,000 multidisciplinary staff, including clinicians, administrators, and community health workers, ensuring effective coordination of services, staff performance, and programme delivery.

A defining aspect of his leadership has been his ability to build and operationalize health systems from the ground up. He successfully led the establishment of one hospital and two clinics, overseeing all phases from planning and resource mobilization to staffing, systems development, and full-scale service delivery. This experience has given him a deep understanding of healthcare infrastructure development, operational design, and sustainable service implementation in resource-constrained environments.

Dr. Elliason brings strong expertise in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), project management, and behavioural health interventions. His formal training in global health programme management, policy, and evaluation from the University of Washington has further strengthened his ability to design, implement, and assess programmes that are both evidence-based and contextually relevant. He is particularly skilled at translating research findings into practical interventions that can be scaled within communities to improve service utilization, health awareness, and health outcomes.

His professional background is further enriched by experience in counseling psychology and trauma-informed care. He has worked extensively in mental health and psychosocial support, designing interventions that address substance use, trauma recovery, and behavioral health challenges. This dual expertise in public health and psychology allows him to approach health challenges from both systems and human-centered perspectives.

In addition to his leadership and programme management experience, Dr. Elliason has a strong academic profile. He has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contributing to the development of future health professionals. His teaching areas include public health, mental health, sociology, anatomy, and research methodology, with a focus on linking theory to practice and preparing students for real-world health challenges.

He is currently completing a PhD in Public Health, with research focused on health behaviour, cancer prevention, and service utilization. His research applies behavioural science frameworks to understand how individuals perceive risk, make health decisions, and engage with healthcare services. This work positions him to contribute meaningfully to research, policy development, and programme design in global health contexts.
