Dr. R. D. Shambharkar

About

I am a researcher and design engineer with interdisciplinary expertise spanning geotechnical engineering, structural dynamics, advanced materials, and sustainable waste management. My PhD research focused on the pullout capacity of strip anchors embedded in layered frictional soil, contributing to improved understanding of soil–structure interaction and foundation engineering applications. During my M.Tech, I conducted vibration analysis of thin rotating cylindrical shells, developing insights into structural dynamics and shell behavior. I have also worked on functionally graded materials during my research experience at IIT Bombay, exploring advanced material behavior and engineering applications.

In addition to academic research, I have industry experience as a Design Engineer, where I was involved in engineering analysis, CAD-based design, and problem-solving for practical applications. My research interests extend to sustainable engineering, particularly solid waste management, including municipal and kitchen waste utilization. I am interested in interdisciplinary approaches that integrate geotechnical engineering, structural mechanics, material science, and environmental sustainability to address real-world engineering challenges.
