About

Dr. Jaydeep Mukherjee have a distinguished academic record throughout his career. He was awarded PhD in Economics in 2006 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, (ranked 4th in NIRF University ranking in 2022). The topic of his thesis was “Relationship between Macroeconomic Aggregates and Stock Prices in the Indian Economy: An Empirical Analysis”. He was a Gold Medalist in Economics from Jadavpur University both at the Undergraduate (Bachelors) and Postgraduate (Masters) levels. He had also qualified the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and National Eligibility Test (NET) Examination for Lectureship conducted by UGC.

He had more than 25 years of teaching and research experience. Currently, he is working as Professor in Economics at Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai. Earlier he was associated with Shiv Nadar university Chennai and Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Delhi, one of the premier AACSB-accredited B-Schools in the country. He is also the Head IIFT, Gift City (Gandhinagar), a Research and Capacity-development Centre of IIFT Delhi. He has served as a Guest Faculty in Economics at IMI Delhi, IIM Raipur and IIM Sirmaur. He was also a regular Visiting Professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University (Centre for International Trade and Development) during 2011-2019, where he taught courses on Balance of Payments and Monetary Theory of International Trade at Post graduate and MPhil level.

Dr. Mukherjee completed around 20 funded research projects / consultancy assignments sponsored by reputed organisations in India and abroad, namely, Walmart, International Finance Corporation (IFC) under World Bank, DFID-UK, PWC, Reserve Bank of India, Different Ministries of the Government of India (namely, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, DPIIT, Department of Ayush, etc.), Spices Board, Indian Embassy in Iran, etc. He had conducted training programmes in India and abroad on various Macroeconomic and policy-related issues to Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Indian Statistical Service (ISS), and Indian Trade Service (ITS) Officers, Armed Forces (all three services), GAIL Executives from the level of Senior Manager to DGM, Power-Grid Officers, Commercial Team of Coromandel Fertilizers Limited, Capacity Building in International Business for Government Officers at Luanda, Angola and Maputo, Mozambique, etc.

Dr. Mukherjee has more than 30 publications in Scopus/ABDC indexed Journals. Some of his research papers are published in reputed peer-reviewed international journals namely, International Journal of Emerging Markets (Emerald Journal), Journal of Policy Modelling (Elsevier Journal), Journal of Asian Economics (Elsevier Journal), Management Research Review (Emerald Journal), South Asian Journal of Macroeconomics and Public Finance (Sage Journal), Indian economic Journal (Sage Journal), Review of Market Integration (Sage Journal), Journal of World Trade (Kluwer Law Journal), Journal of World Investment and Trade, etc. His articles on macroeconomics and trade related issues have been published in newspapers like Mint, Hindu Business Line, etc. He is also the Associate Editor of Foreign Trade Review, Quarterly Journal of IIFT, ranked as B-Category under ABDC and Scopus Q2 and published by Sage since 2012.

His teaching and research interests include Macroeconomic Policy, International
Macroeconomics, International Finance, Applied Time-Series Econometrics, Global Business Environment, Financial Economics, etc. He has consistently received excellent feedback - average feedback in excess of 4.5 out of 5 – from the students in all the courses that he taught across programmes at IIFT and other Institutes.
