About
I was born in Azzel (Agadez) in the Republic of Niger (West Africa). I did my primary studies in Azzel, secondary in Agadez, and higher education in Niamey (Niger). I did my medical studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences of Université Abdou Moumouni in Niamey. I obtained the Doctorate Diploma in General Medicine in February 2011, with a very honorable mention and congratulations. The subject of the thesis: "Nosology and frequency of neurological disorders in outpatient neurology consultation in Niamey: Retrospective study about 3827 cases". The objective was to determine the pattern and frequency of neurological diseases at the external consultation of neurology in Niamey (Niger).
After five years of working for the Ministry of Health, I returned to study for a Specialized Master's in Integrated Management of Health Risks in the Global South (IManHR) at the University of Liège (Belgium) from 2017 to 2018. In a joint program between the University of Liège, Université Libre de Bruxelles, and the University of Namur, this specialization master's program trains doctors and veterinarians, specifically aimed at developing the interdisciplinary skills required for the realization of the One Health concept. I have completed my end-of-study work for my Master's thesis, titled “Surveillance of antibiotic resistance in Senegal: focus on information needs by actors.” This study aimed to evaluate the requests for information and monitoring of antibiotic resistance surveillance among antibiotic users in Senegal.
Professionally, I joined the Government Service in 2011 on behalf of the Ministry of Health. I served as Chief Medical Officer at N'Gourti Health District until December 31, 2022. I performed the following tasks:
- Coordination and assessment of District Executive Team activities
- Clinical activities in the District Hospital;
- Organization, monitoring, and assessment of the reference and counter-reference system;
- Monitoring of District Health Development Plan (PDSD) and Annual Action Plans (AAPs);
- Coordination of operational research on problems encountered in the implementation of the primary health care approach;
- Development of an agenda for each of the District Executive Team members and a written program of activities.
I am currently a PhD candidate in Public Health at the Regional Institute of Public Health (IRSP), University of Abomey Calavi (Benin Republic).
This training will allow me to develop my skills and prepare me for functions as a researcher, participating in public health programs.
My research focuses on antibiotic resistance in human health in Niger.
The research axis of my thesis focuses on implementing antibiotic stewardship actions and conducting audits that enable the definition of good use in various types of healthcare establishments. Specifically, it is to:
- Evaluate knowledge, attitudes, and practices of health care workers on the use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance;
- Analyze the level of antibiotic resistance in hospitals and antibiotic consumption;
- Identify problems related to antibiotic resistance;
- Propose actions for improvement.
