About
Mr. SK Ariful Hossain is working as Senior Researcher in the Physical Oceanographic Division (POD) at the CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Goa, India. His research expertise spans Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Earth Observation (EO) applied to Tropical Ocean and coastal environments. He specializes in modeling oceanic and coastal processes, analyzing global climate change and extreme climatic events, advancing ocean color remote sensing, and developing bio-optical and coastal water quality models. His research also encompasses coastal geomorphology, coral reef island morphodynamics, and the carbon sequestration potential of blue carbon ecosystems, nature-based solutions, and contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Mr. Hossain has previously served as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF) at prestigious institutions including the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI), New Delhi, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore, and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS), Hyderabad. He is a life member of several scientific organizations, including the Ocean Society of India (OSI), the Indian Meteorological Society (IMS), the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS), the Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG), and the Mangrove Society of India (MSI).
