About
Md Rahber Alam is a doctoral student at the Department of Business Administration at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), located in Aligarh, India. He completed both his MBA in Finance and his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), at AMU, which has been the foundation of his academic journey. Following his MBA, Md Rahber Alam joined SS&C GlobeOp India, a global financial services company that provides fund administration, middle-office outsourcing, and risk reporting. He managed investment fund accounting and administration for 3.5 years as a Senior Fund Accountant. Detailed fund transaction analysis and reconciliation, financial statement preparation, and regulatory compliance were his duties. Alam gained valuable knowledge of financial markets and investment management from this experience, which piqued his interest in investor behaviour. Md. Rahber Alam returned to academia as a research scholar in Aligarh Muslim University's Department of Business Administration after extensive professional experience. His behavioural finance research focusses on investors' risk and time preferences. Behavioural finance, an emerging field, uses psychology and financial theory to understand why and how investors make financial decisions that deviate from rationality theories. Alam studies the psychological factors that influence investors' risk and time valuations. His research examines how psychological biases like overconfidence, loss aversion, and present bias affect investment decisions and market outcomes. Alam hopes to improve financial advice, portfolio management, and policymaking by studying these aspects and developing more accurate investor behaviour models. Md Rahber Alam attends conferences and publishes in reputable journals as a research scholar. His research should help bridge the gap between traditional finance theories and real-world investor behaviour by revealing the complex relationship between psychological factors and financial decision-making.
