About
Supratim Dutta is a skilled wildlife biologist with extensive experience in carnivore ecology, species reintroduction, and movement ecology. Currently serving as a Research Associate at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), he specializes in integrating advanced technologies such as radio telemetry, wireless camera traps, and spatial analysis to study large carnivores in dynamic landscapes.
His Ph.D. research, conducted in collaboration with WII and the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), focused on ‘Niche partitioning and interspecific interactions among large carnivores in the dry deciduous ecosystem of Panna Tiger Reserve, Central India’. With a strong foundation in statistical modelling and ecological monitoring, his expertise lies in employing cutting-edge tools like Bayesian modelling, multispecies occupancy analysis, hidden Markov model and step-selection functions for conservation applications.
