About

Research Biography
I am currently a PhD candidate in the Department of Pure and Applied Physics at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur, under the supervision of Dr. Dinesh Uthra. My research program is centered on the rational design and fabrication of low-cost, high-performance polymer nanocomposites for advanced optoelectronic and energy storage applications. I specialize in developing tailored material systems using a variety of synthesis techniques, including solution casting, sol-gel, and solid-state reaction methods, with a focus on polymers (PVA, PMMA, PVP, PVDF) and functional nanofillers (metal oxides like ZnO, TiO₂, NiO, and semiconductors like SiC, TaC).
My experimental expertise encompasses a comprehensive suite of characterization techniques to probe the structural, optical, and electrical properties of these nanomaterials. I am proficient in structural analysis using XRD and Rietveld refinement, optical characterization via UV-Vis-NIR, PL, and FTIR spectroscopy, and microstructural investigation using SEM, TEM, and AFM. Furthermore, I routinely evaluate electrical and dielectric performance using LCR Meter and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) to correlate material properties with device functionality.
This multidisciplinary approach has yielded significant research output, including seven publications in reputable, peer-reviewed international journals. My first-author works, such as the Journal of Optics, demonstrate my capacity to independently drive research projects from conception to communication, focusing on the development of multifunctional nanocomposites for sensors and photonic devices.
My contributions to the field have been recognized through awards, including the Best Oral Presentation Award at the GGV Student Science Congress 2025, and I have actively disseminated my findings at international forums like the International Conference on Emerging Trends in Complex Systems, Advanced Materials and Photonics (ETCSAMP-2025). To complement my research, I am an engaged peer reviewer, having provided timely and critical evaluations for several manuscripts in journals such as Discover Nano, Silicon, and the Journal of Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers and Materials, Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics. This experience has honed my ability to critically assess scientific work.

Mr. Kiran Thakur earned a BS in Physics from Sambalpur University, Odisha in 2018 and pursuing PhD in Physics from the Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur in 2025. He is now a PhD Research Scholar in the Department of Pure and Applied Physics at Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur.
His work in polymer nanocomposites and functional materials has resulted in seven publications in reputed peer-reviewed international journals, along with several conference presentations and peer-reviewed evaluations. He has also been an active reviewer for journals such as Discover Nano, Silicon, and the Journal of Inorganic and Organometallic Polymers and Materials.
