About
Prof. Sharma has vast experience of more than 36 years conducting strategic research, guiding, teaching postgraduate students, conducting national/ international training programmes and carrying out agricultural development interventions at the national level. He earned his Doctoral degree from IIT, Delhi and Post Graduation from GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and was awarded Fellowships from IIT, Delhi and UNDP respectively. He was associated with 34 externally funded projects. He has designed and developed innovative extension approaches like IARI-Post-Office Linkage Extension Model (KrishiDak), Cyber Extension Model, Expert System, e-learning Module, National Extension Programme, IARI-VO Partnership Programme, Innovative Farmer Led Extension System etc.
For better and faster dissemination of technologies. Dr. Sharma introduced/taught 11 postgraduate courses in agricultural extension and guided 23 students. He has published 122 research papers in reputed journals, 310 popular articles in magazines and newspapers, 55 books, 60 book chapters. He is member of various National and International Professional Committees and invited as consultants/expert for DBT, DST, Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Dehradun, AERC governing body, Coordinator of MeraGaonMeraGaurav (Government flagship scheme), Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (MoHRD). He has been elected as prestigious National Academy of Agriculture Sciences (NAAS) Fellow 2022 for his immense contribution in entrepreneurship development in the field of agriculture. Prof. Sharma has been nominated as a member of Prestigious National Level Committee for promotion of Zero budget based farming, diversification in Agricultureand to make MSP more effective and transparent, constituted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on the initiative of Prime Minister of India. He is also member of UT Level Apex Committee for framing a comprehensive Agriculture Policy for holistic development of Agriculture and Allied Sectors in UT of J&K.
