डॉ शिवजी सिंह Dr. Sheojee Singh ( pronounced Shivji Singh)
Presently Associate Professor of Physics and Education w.e.f. Dec. 03,, 2016) at Govt. College of Education, Sector-20 D, Chandigarh, Dr. Singh is a Doctorate in Education and Postgraduate in Physics with specialization in Advanced Electronics from the University Dept. of Physics, Patna University. He also holds postgraduate degrees in Education (M.Ed.) and Distance Education (MADE), Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education and certificates in Human Rights as well as Value Education. He is a critical thinker in the areas of Education, Science and Technology, Spirituality and Human Development. He joined GCE-20 D, Chandigarh on Jan.25, 2003 on the recommendations of UPSC, New Delhi. Prior to this, he has been a Physics Teacher with Krishnamurti Foundation India for three academic sessions at its prestigious residential Rajghat Besant School, Varanasi, where he was involved in many innovative academic reforms including examination reforms for making students’ learning joyful. He has also served as Warden of Boys’ Hostel in addition to his teaching duties at RBS and for more than three years in the similar capacity at Govt. College of Education, Chandigarh. He has been the In-Charge, Computer Science Dept. of GCE-20 D, Chandigarh from March 2010 to May 2011 and a member of the Executive Committee of Regional Council-3 (Chandigarh and H.P.) of IAPT (Indian Association of Physics Teachers) for 2010-2012 and again for 2013-2015 and then as the treasurer of Regional Council-3 (Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh) of IAPT. He was also the Staff-Secretary (Faculty) of the Govt. College of Education, Chandigarh from April 2010 to March 31, 2014. He has also been the In Charge of B.Ed. Correspondence Course of Panjab University at the study centre of GCE-20, Chandigarh from March,2005- Dec.2006 and was also having this charge from August 2011 to July 2016. He was also the Joint Secretary of CGCTA (Chandigarh Govt College Teachers Association) from Jan.2013 till May 20, 2014 and Joint Treasurer of CGCTA w.e.f. May 21, 2014 to May 2016. He has also served as the Editor of the research journal ‘The Educational Beacon’ brought out annually by Government College of Education, Chandigarh for a two years term (Oct. 2017-Nov. 2019).
He has qualified UGC Lectureship Test in Physics as well as in Education. Having deep interest in the innovative ways of teaching learning, he approaches even the most difficult issues in Education very scientifically. Many institutions and teachers have got the benefit of his expert guidance and inspiring lectures on various contemporary issues of Education.
As an active life-member of several academic-professional associations like Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), Indian Association of Teacher Educators, Manav Seva Sangh, All India Association for Educational Research, Indian Society for Gandhian Studies, Sri Aurobindo Society, Bihar Brains Development (International) Society etc., he has presented his research papers at more than fifty national-international conferences, seminars and workshops. On Feb.6, 2011, he presented his research paper and also chaired a technical session at India International Centre, New Delhi during a National Conference organized by Delhi University. He was an invited speaker and also chaired a session in a National Conference at Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha (M.S.) in March 2015. Many of his papers have also been published in reputed journals. He has also meticulously edited conference proceedings of IAPT Zonal (North) Conferences at Ludhiana in Nov.2011 and Feb.2012. His major areas of interest are Physics Education, Philosophy of Education and Gandhian Philosophy, Value-Education, Man-Making Education of Swami Vivekananda, Human Excellence and Bhagavad Gita, Preventive Healthcare, Yoga and Distance Education, . He wrote his Ph.D. thesis on the topic ‘Pedagogy of Value Education in the light of teachings of the Bhagavad-Gita’ and was awarded Ph.D. degree from Panjab University, Chandigarh in April 2011.
He has also been guiding research scholars in Education at Panjab University since October 2012 and seven scholars have completed their research under him and 2 more students are actively working with him for Ph. D. in Education. Presently he is also an added member of faculty of Education, and member, Board of Studies in Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
