About
I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the ICAR–Central Institute of Fisheries Education (ICAR–CIFE), Mumbai, under the supervision of Dr M. Goswami, Head and Principal Scientist of the Fish Genetics and Biotechnology Division. I earned my Master’s degree in Fish Biotechnology from ICAR–CIFE, Mumbai, where I conducted my research under the guidance of Dr A. Pavan Kumar (Principal Scientist) and Dr K. V. Rajendran (Head and Principal Scientist, AEHM). I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science from the Faculty of Fisheries, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST–K). My current research focuses on cell culture, genome editing technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9, cell line development, cell-based assays, lab-grown meat, proteomics, and the analysis of spent media. I have gained extensive hands-on experience in molecular techniques through collaborations with leading institutions, including IIT Bombay, ICAR-NBFGR (Lucknow), and NCCS Pune. My technical expertise includes DNA and RNA isolation, plasmid and protein isolation, SDS-PAGE, 2D-PAGE, cloning and transformation, gel elution, primer designing, cell culture, cell line development and characterization, MTT and XTT assays, gRNA construction, scaffold design, cryopreservation, comet assays, karyotyping, growth optimization, toxicology studies, fish breeding, microinjection, transfection, and cell counting. I am also proficient in molecular approaches such as molecular docking, Sanger sequencing, and bioinformatics, with additional experience in species identification of fish and parasites using DNA barcoding. Broadly, my research is aimed at developing innovative solutions for the fisheries and animal science sectors. I am particularly interested in advancing cell line development, genome editing, proteomics, lab-grown meat, and other emerging technologies that support sustainable aquaculture and biotechnology. I am deeply committed to applying my expertise to promote progress in fisheries science, biotechnology, food security, and animal health.
