About

I am Dr. Hamrish Kumar Rajakumar, currently working as a medical intern at Government Medical College, Omandurar, Chennai. I’ve always been drawn to the idea of using medicine not just to treat illness, but to make a real difference in peoples lives inside and outside the hospital. I aspire to specialize in cardiothoracic surgery, a field that challenges me intellectually and inspires me with its potential to save and transform lives.

Along the way, I’ve developed a strong interest in clinical research and academic writing. I enjoy asking questions, digging into data, and trying to find patterns or solutions that might improve how we diagnose, treat, or understand disease. My research interests started off broad — something that’s reflected in my early publications spanning a wide range of topics and departments. Those projects gave me hands-on experience with the research process in a way that lectures or textbooks never could. Over time, I found myself increasingly drawn to cardiac surgery. That’s where my curiosity feels most at home now

I’ve had the opportunity to be involved in peer reviewing, editorial work, and collaborative projects with colleagues from different backgrounds. I’ve also become passionate about making research more accessible to students and early-career doctors, especially in settings where resources are limited. What keeps me going, more than anything, is the belief that small efforts — whether it’s being thorough with a patient’s case, helping a colleague, or mentoring someone newer to the field — add up. I care deeply about equity in healthcare, and I hope to be part of building systems that are fair, thoughtful, and inclusive.
