About
Dr. Uttam Kumar Pandit is an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He obtained his B.E. in Civil Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, his M.Tech. in Structural Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand, and his Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bhubaneswar. His doctoral research focused on the development of homogenization-based modeling techniques for corrugated steel structures. During his doctoral research, he developed a novel homogenization scheme and validated its accuracy through extensive experimental testing and numerical simulations. The proposed approach transforms complex corrugated geometries into equivalent flat orthotropic plates, enabling efficient numerical analysis of corrugated steel web girders and corrugated steel plate infill walls. His work addressed static, vibration, and stability problems, including lateral-torsional buckling, and contributed to the development of reliability-based shear design guidelines for corrugated steel web girders. The proposed methodologies significantly improved computational efficiency while maintaining high predictive accuracy.
As a co-founder of Infradymaix Stiffness Monitoring Pvt. Ltd., a technology-driven startup focused on structural health monitoring and engineering design solutions, he contributes to consultancy and infrastructure assessment projects across India.
