About
Dr. Kounteya Sarkar is currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in SRM University AP, India. He completed his Ph.D in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur under the supervision of Prof. Sudip Misra, world renowned scientist and academician in the field of communication networks and Internet of Things (IoT). Prior to this, Dr. Kounteya completed his Masters in Engineering (M.E) in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in India (BITS Pilani) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physics from University of Calcutta. During his M.E, his specialization was on Information Security and he completed his final dissertation off-campus at IISER Kolkata.
Dr. Kounteya Sarkar's current areas of interest include Blockchain and secure distributed systems, Internet of Things (IoT), modern computer networking, 6G telecommunication and quantum computing and communication. Throughout the last few years, he has been actively engaged in advanced research across diverse domains. Dr. Kounteya has served in various capacities as research fellow and engineer in sponsored projects, through which he holds active collaboration with both Government and industrial sponsors. His works have been published in high impact factor international transactions (such as IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology) and IEEE/ACM conferences across the world. As a young professional, he has already travelled to various countries in Europe, Africa and Asia for paper presentations, workshops and symposiums whereby he has achieved some global collaboration and exposure. He has been part of some of the most cutting-edge technological inventions across diverse fields, from Electric Vehicular charging solutions, distributed blockchain systems to 6G core design and development, many of which have been filed for patents in India, US and Europe, with some having already been granted and others in the process. Dr. Kounteya also holds Copyright protections (granted and filed) over suitable software frameworks that he developed with his collaborators. Dr. Kounteya Sarkar is a member of IEEE and ACM and regularly takes part in various voluntary and professional activities. For his contributions over the years, he has received the IEEE Computer Society Richard E. Merwin Student Scholarship, Fall 2024 and IEEE Kharagpur Section Outstanding Student Volunteer Award, 2024. During his Ph.D, Dr. Kounteya served as Chair and Treasurer in his local IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter in IIT Kharagpur.
Dr. Kounteya fundamentally remains a committed academician and over the years, he has successfully delivered several talks and lectures in both online and offline mode. He has mentored more than 50 UG, PG and young Ph.D candidates during their active years of research. As an educator and teacher, he is well accepted by his students and colleagues alike, where he is appreciated for his unique teaching skills, pedagogy and learner interaction.
