About

Dr. Shyam Babu received his Ph.D. in Physics/Materials Science in 2021 from the School of Materials Science and Technology (SMST), Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, India. His doctoral research, titled “Non-collinear Magnetic Materials for Energy-Efficient Data Storage Devices”, was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shrawan Kumar Mishra and focused on emergent spin textures and their potential applications in next-generation information storage technologies.
He completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics from University of Allahabad (Prayagraj). During his M.Sc. program, he was awarded the prestigious Summer Research Fellowship, which he pursued at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Vasant Natarajan in the Atomic and Optical Physics Laboratory.
During his doctoral tenure, Dr. Babu carried out advanced experimental research and collaborative studies at several premier national and international research institutions, including IISER Pune, NISER Bhubaneswar, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), Germany, and the University of Manitoba, Canada. These collaborations significantly strengthened his expertise in single-crystal & thin-film growth, nanostructured magnetic materials, and state-of-the-art characterization techniques.
Dr. Babu is currently serving as Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Physics, at RHS PG College, Singramau, Jaunpur (U.P.), India, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Physics, including both theoretical and experimental laboratory modules.
His research interests lie in the synthesis and experimental investigation of nanostructured functional materials, with particular emphasis on nanomagnetism, non-collinear spin systems, and spintronic materials. His current research focuses on topological spin textures (magnetic skyrmions and chiral domain walls), magneto-ionic control at metal/oxide interfaces for energy-efficient nanoelectronics and neuromorphic computing, and high magnetic anisotropy materials for low-power information storage and advanced magnetic devices.
