Dr. Namita Sharad Patil is the Director of Research and Development at D. Y. Patil Agriculture & Technical University, Talsande, Kolhapur, a role she took on in December 2025. She also serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Food Technology, a position she has held since 2022. Before joining D. Y. Patil University, she was an Assistant Professor at Shivaji University, Kolhapur (2012 2018), Pad. Dr. D.Y.P.C.A.E.T., Talsande (2011 2012), and Dr. B.M.C.A.E.T., Mandki Palvan, Chiplun (2010 2011). Dr. Patil earned her Ph.D. in Food Technology from D. Y. Patil Agriculture & Technical University, where she was awarded third place for her doctoral work at the International Conference on The Future of Food Science and Technology: Innovations, Sustainability and Health at Amity University. She qualified for the ICAR ASRB NET in Post Harvest Engineering and Technology, secured AIR 14 in the ICAR JRF exam, received a JRF from ICAR, and holds an M.Tech. in Process and Food Engineering from G.B.P.U.A. & T., Pantnagar, as well as a B.Tech. from Mahatma Phule Agricultural University. In 2002, she received a Merit Certificate from the State of Maharashtra under the National Scholarship Scheme. Her teaching portfolio includes food packaging, cereal and snack food technology, fruit and vegetable processing, and spices processing. Her research focuses on edible and sustainable packaging, process modeling and optimization using response surface methodology and mixture design, drying of fruits, vegetables, and medicinal plants, development of functional and health oriented food products, and waste valorization for value added applications. She has supervised fifteen B.Tech., seventeen M.Tech., and twelve M.Sc. research projects, presented her work at numerous national and international conferences, and authored or reviewed articles and book chapters published in reputable venues such as Springer, Elsevier, Scopus and Web of Science indexed, NAAS rated, and UGC CARE journals of repute
