About
I am Dr. Gaurav Sharma, currently serving as Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at Lingaya’s Vidyapeeth, India. I hold a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Incheon National University, South Korea.
Research Interests:
My primary research areas include:
• Structural health monitoring (SHM) and non-destructive evaluation
• Advanced cement-based materials and sustainable construction using waste-derived supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs)
• Fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) reinforced concrete structures
• Carbonation curing and alternative curing techniques
• Application of Artificial Intelligence in civil engineering
• Construction management and material optimization
I have extensive experience in various non-destructive testing (NDT) methods for structural health monitoring, such as:
• Acoustic emission (AE) techniques
• Digital Image Correlation (DIC)
• Microstructural characterization tools, including XRD, SEM, MIP and TG/DTG.
These techniques are central to my work in assessing damage progression, crack behavior, and overall durability of concrete structures under various loading and environmental conditions.
I have authored multiple papers in SCI/SCIE-indexed journals focusing on structural health monitoring and sustainable cement-based materials. My research collaborations span academic institutions and industry partners aimed at developing innovative, eco-friendly, and durable construction technologies.
