Mr. Dipak S. Thorat is an emerging pharmaceutical researcher recognized for his innovative contributions in drug delivery systems, biopolymer-based formulations, and biomedical engineering. He has been recognized by the Government of India with the GYTI Award 2024 for his innovative work. He holds extensive experience in developing novel therapeutics through the integration of herbal actives, biodegradable polymers, and nanotechnology for targeted and sustained release. His scientific vision aligns with the development of eco-friendly, functional biomaterials for pharmaceutical and biomedical applications. His research highlights include advanced formulations such as 3D-printed pharmaceutical scaffolds, wound-healing patches, polymeric nanocomposites, and biocompatible drug carriers. Mr. Thorat is a pioneer in using zebrafish as a cost-effective and translational model for toxicity screening, inflammation studies, and drug delivery evaluation, contributing to safer and more efficient preclinical research methodologies.
He has authored four book chapters on polymer nanocomposites, cancer nanomedicine, and biodegradable delivery systems, and has contributed over ten review and research articles in reputed journals. His projects focus on areas including microneedle-based drug delivery of quantum dots for early cancer detection, herbal-based diabetic formulations, and novel wound-care devices. His research expertise spans the design and development of 3D-printed drug delivery systems; fabrication and evaluation of biodegradable and herbal-based therapeutics; and the application of the zebrafish model in pharmaceutical toxicology and inflammation studies. He has worked extensively on nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery for oncology and dermatology, coupled UV, FTIR, Basic HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS,TGA, DSC, Zeta analyser, particle size analysis, Florescence microscopy, many more sophisticated analytical instruments .
Mr.Thorat holds several Indian patents, including a vaginal diagnostic device and a smart analgesic instrument. He has presented his work in over 30 international conferences and is a member of IPSF and AAPS. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and a patient-centered research approach, he continues to advance modern pharmaceutics, merging traditional wisdom with scientific innovation.
