About
Dr. Pradeep Kumar is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Biology at Lund University, Sweden. His research integrates molecular biology, genetics, proteomics, and functional genomics to investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer, neurodegeneration, and other complex diseases using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system.
He obtained his PhD in Plant Biotechnology from Banaras Hindu University, India, where his research focused on oncogenic RasV12-induced glioblastoma. His work identified novel mitochondrial dynamics regulators associated with glioblastoma progression and demonstrated the therapeutic potential of the chromene derivative 4H-CRCXL using integrated proteomic, biochemical, and in vivo approaches. He also investigated the neuroprotective effects of natural bioactive compounds in Drosophila models of Alzheimer's disease. These studies resulted in first-author publications in Journal of Proteome Research and Molecular Carcinogenesis.
His research interests include cancer biology, neurodegeneration, mitochondrial biology, developmental genetics, chronobiology, proteomics, systems biology, and translational drug discovery. He has expertise in LC-Orbitrap HRMS-based proteomics, Drosophila genetics, confocal microscopy, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and functional assays for therapeutic screening.
Dr. Kumar is interested in understanding the molecular basis of disease and translating fundamental biological discoveries into innovative therapeutic strategies. He welcomes interdisciplinary collaborations in molecular biology, genetics, proteomics, neurobiology, developmental biology, and translational biomedical research.
